Weddings and Baptisms at All Saints Church

Baptism

Holy Baptism

Baptism of babies, children and adults is usually carried out on the 1st Sunday of the month during the Celebrating Together service at 10.45am.  Occasionally, baptisms may take place on the 2nd Sunday of the month (not in August or December) at 3.00p.m.  Initial enquiries should be made via the Parish Office.  Parents are asked to visit the church at a prearranged time so that they may learn what baptism means and what will happen during the service. Please allow time for suitable baptism preparation between your initial enquiry and the date you would like it to take place.

These arrangements are currently under review. In the first instance please contact the parish office  01245 422846.

How to book your Wedding

To marry in the Parish Church there are two usual qualifications. One of the couple must reside in the Parish or one of them must 'habitually worship' in the Parish. If neither of the couple fulfils either of these qualifications, one or other or both should worship here for 26 weeks in order to qualify to go on the Electoral Roll of the church.  To do this you must have been christened.

There are also other qualifying connections which may allow you it marry in All Saints. For more information please see the Church of England website:

The Banns (Notice of Marriage) are read, if all details are available, on three consecutive Sundays within three months of the date of wedding. If either or both of you (in the case of a qualifying connection)are resident outside the parish of All Saints Writtle you MUST ensure your banns are called in the other parish and obtain the relevant certificate.

There is a yearly marriage preparation day to which all couples are warmly invited.
